I think Gene was doing his Jimmy Rodgers singing style when he recorded this. I understand he loved the great JR….Thank God he finally got his own singing style. I’m not a Rodgers fan, but I love Gene Autry.

yes, if you listen to his older songs, he always tried to sound like Jimmie Rodgers…he did a very good imitation, but hewas so good in his own right…I’m glad he found his own style.
